Purpose of Wilderness Trip
Mission Statement:
"The Grace Lutheran Wilderness Trip is the culmination point and transition event for our confirmation youth and parents. It is a profound spiritual and physical experience. Using team work and group cooperation the Wilderness group travels deep into Gods backcountry. The group works together on routine needs and solves problems as a team with all members sharing the load equally. The pinnacle of the backcountry experience is the ascension of the highest mountain for an awesome view of God’s glory. As a result of the trip youth will transition to young adults and parents will slowly recognize and except the transition of their youth. Daily fellowship, devotionals and prayer move the group through the wilderness and closer to God"
Goals and Objectives:
The Wilderness trip is a backcountry and spiritual experience conducted with just enough personal and group equipment to travel through the wilderness and conduct the "Mission". Participants will make tough decisions and leave unnecessary items home. Electronic and creature comfort items are discouraged. The Goals are spiritual growth and successful travel through the wilderness. The main needs are food, water, toilet and shelter.
